Help for the financially challenged

Talked to someone who answers the call when people who are financially challenged dial 2-1-1 (877-541-7905) here in Texas. Called to find out when we should've gotten our SNAP (food-stamp) card. Should've got it last week. I also had him update the application since we've now had an electric bill. Hopefully we'll get more than the currently approved amount of $68 per month for a family of three whose sole income is SSDI with our rent being over $850/month. Should know in up to 30 days, hopefully sooner. Meanwhile, I have to call the Lonestar Card (EBT) to find out where our food card is. *sigh*

Geez, I don't know what to say but "that is sucky" and that seems so lame even if it is true. If we had a trailer I would beg you to come back here and live on our place. We don't but if you could find one we could work something out. I do not know what agreement you have with your current landlord but don't give up on low-income housing, you situation has changed since that last one you tried.

I haven't given up on low-income housing.

We signed a lease for 13 months where we are. I wasn't complaining, just mentioning "stuff" we'er dealing with.

We'll be okay. Okay?

I can honestly say I know how you feel in this case. It doesn't matter what state you're in, the ones who handle your case just DON'T CARE.

My brother is on about 14 different meds, including TWO types of insulin he has to have 3 times a day and they cut off his medicaid for no reason. His income and situation hadn't changed at all. He had to reapply and they are taking their freaking time putting it through. In the meantime, he's having to pay out of pocket; money that he'll never get back after paying his taxes for FORTY years to get this "help" when he truly needs it. He has no choice; without the meds, he would die in less than a week. One wonders if they aren't working for population control.

*hugs*

I didn't take your post as anything but statement of fact. But I am not sure what difference it makes between mentioning stuff or complaining, I am just trying to give you options--it really sucks when one has no options. I didn't mean to offend you.
What Alyx says about population control is probably not that far a stretch too. The US has done things like that before.

That is just wrong what they did to your brother :-( Hugs right back.

You didn't offend me, I just wanted to make sure you knew why I had said what I did. Options are good, no, great. I really do appreciate that you're bringing them up. Thank you.

DD has not had any luck yet. She has applied at some places through on-line applications, just hasn't had any callbacks.
