Catheter out - New Year in

I don't have anything new to write about, so I figured that I'd just put in a little update. Still wearing a catheter after my trip to the E.R. on Wednesday.

For those who don't/didn't know, this is what I wrote on Wednesday...
"Apparently my prostate decided last night was the night to become enlarged and not allow me to pee. After trying and trying for a few hours, took a hot bath hoping it would relax me enough to pee but it didn't, I drove myself to the ER at 4:30 AM this morning. :( I have to wear a catheter & pee-bag for a 2 weeks, and take some swelling reducing meds for my prostrate, I'll need to see a urologist and get said catheter removed. Until then, all I need to do after peeing is drain my bag. So, as you can imagine, I'm feeling a little down today. :-("
Since I've been wearing said catheter for 4 days I am, unfortunately, used to it. Also, for the same reason, the part it's attached to isn't nearly as tender/irritated. Of course that could also be because I bought some 3-in-1 antibiotic salve and rubbed that into my sore manhood. I don't know if the office I called on Thursday, who is supposed to call me back with a set appointment time & day to have the catheter removed is open tomorrow, but I hope they are, and I really hope they call me and say to come in first thing Wednesday morning.

Here is sincerely wishing the year of 2013 is an AWESOME year for you!

Sucky day!

Got woken up by the front office after 5 hours of sleep to be asked if I wanted to schedule my free carpet cleaning (free because I renewed my lease for another year). Arrived at my 2 p.m doctor appointment at 2:15 because the GPS got my trip all screwed up. Sat in the waiting room at said doctor until 3 p.m. When I asked to reschedule my appointment the lady that sets up appointments asked, "Do you have something else you need to do?",

I said, "Yeah, some shopping". Which was a lie, but I figured it was more civil than saying, "No, I'm just fucking bored after sitting here for 45 minutes watching a crappy TV station!" So I go back tomorrow at noon.

Went to Target with the girls to get a few boxes to wrap presents in. Dropped the girls off at home and said to text me when they went to the hot tub. They did, but I missed the texts because I was wrapping presents, which I'm STILL not done with. And I'm using duct tape because of running out of scotch tape. The girls came over to tell me they had already been to the hot tub, but because DD needs to get some sleep before her 4 a.m shift, they were just going to go back home. When I came out of the bed room to say good-bye to them, I noticed that my son had gone to bed w/o saying good night (he had been up since 3 a.m this morning). He was on the computer when I went into the bed room to do the present wrapping.

Now it's 7 p.m. and I've basically been alone (except for a few hours) all day and here I am again... alone. Maybe I'll go to McDonald's for something to do, then come home and watch basketball on TV... alone. :-(

Back to present wrapping. yay

Proof of homeschooling in Texas

I got a letter from the SSA today saying that as of Dec. 2012 they would no longer pay my 17 year old home schooled teenager his part of my SSDI because "he's not attending a school with an accredited curriculum" and I have to show proof of his homeschool "accredited" curriculum. In Texas you don't HAVE to prove it, according to homeschool law. Here's a couple of links where I got my information.

If you have trouble claiming benefits from state or federal agencies because of your home school status, you may call the THSC Association at (806) 744-4441.

I'll be taking printouts with those URLS to the SSA Department tomorrow, if I need to after I talk to the local office. I only talked to the federal SSA on the phone this afternoon.

Medicine woes

Been out of a medicine (LDN) I've been taking for MS, since early last week. Went to the doctor's office om Friday because they wouldn't refill is w/o seeing me first. Then they wrote the "new" prescription refill wrong. Called the office on Friday afternoon last week and left a urgent message. Went and talked to them in PERSON on Saturday, have called the office AGAIN today, and I STILL haven't heard a fucking word! :-(

Update: Called again and talked to a nurse about it today (Tues.), who talked to the doctor, who wouldn't rewrite the prescription for 3 mg. because that medicine "only comes in 50 mg. tablets". DUH! That's why I have it COMPOUNDED with 3 mg. of the tablet with the rest being filler to fill the CAPSULE. Not a tablet!! The nurse then told me that the doctor doesn't want to have a pharmacy in Florida (where I've been getting refills for 5 yrs) do the compounding for someone in Texas. I then told her, "Walgreen's does compounding right here in Austin". Yet the doctor INSISTED that I just split the tablet in quarters and then take 1 quarter in the morning and one in the evening. Again, I told the nurse that I would then be taking 12.5 mg. twice a day after I've been taking 3 mg/day for 5 years. I once took 4.5 mg/day and it was TOO MUCH, so I refuse to take 12.5 mg doses twice a day! The doctor told the nurse that she didn't understand why the doctor she is replacing would prescribe only 3 mg doses (50 mg tablet form is to help heroin addicts kick their habit, which I don't have). That's when I told the nurse that he didn't, he just wrote a refill for it because a doctor in Missouri had been writing it for 3 mg capsules for the last 5 years. SIGH. I told the nurse to give the doctor the URL for the site explaining the medicine and reasons for that dosage, then I faxed them/her the first page of the web site. If push comes to shove, I do have a appointment with a neurologist in November a few weeks from now. Although I've been completely out of said medicine since early last week :-( Maybe I don't really need it anyway. :( I do want to change clinics though!

Stressed - tired - both

Because I'm on the go running teenage girls to and from work and trying to keep up with everything life throws up. My tentative schedule Monday thru Friday most weeks:

01) Bedtime: Somewhere between 11 p.m. and midnight.

02) Wake up at 3:00 a.m. to take daughter to work by 4 a.m.

03) Get home about 4:10 a.m. - back to bed by 4:30 a.m.

04) Alarm is set for 9:30 a.m. so I can get up, make breakfast for my son and I, and get a little homework done. Lately I've been unable to get out of bed before 10:30-11 a.m (fatigue? Depression? Both?)

05) Pick up daughter work at by 12:30 p.m. Back home between 1-1:30 p.m. - time for lunch.

06) Get a little more homework done after making/eating lunch (sometimes).

07) Take the other girl to work by 4:15 p.m. - home by 4:30-4:45 p.m.

08) Do any shopping that needs done, which luckily isn't every day.

09) Daughter goes to bed between 5:30-6:30 p.m

10) By 5:30-6 p.m I'm tired from going on and off all day, so have a *really* hard time getting motivated to even look at schoolwork, let alone actually doing it. Plus supper for the boy and I needs to be made and eaten.

11) 9-9:15 p.m. - leave to pick up 2nd worker from work. Get home between 9:45-10 p.m.

12) Try to relax a little before going to bed.

Then every other Wednesday I have a bowling night with friends. Every Wednesday is supposed to be park-day with other homeschooling parents/kids. Then there's housework (laundry, vacuuming, litter box cleaning, etc.) that needs to be done, which I do get help with, but still.

If anyone wants to go anywhere like the mall, a park, swimming, or something else, I have to drive because there's not time for them to take the bus which takes 2 hours go get anywhere because of all the stops at bus stops, not counting time to get back home.

At some point I should (but usually don't) find some "me time" in there.

So basically, I'm unsure about how long I can keep all this up, since stress and MS does NOT mix well. Hence why I said earlier I'm having trouble doing life AND school (which school is only like 5 or 6 more classes by June 2012, not counting the 2 I'm in right now, and another which starts on October 28th [making 3 classes for this quarter all at the same time], sigh), which is why I DIDN'T for 11 years in RURAL Missouri. But we're in the city now, so... ?

I'm tired!

Seventeen

So yesterday was my son's 17's birthday. Eek! Anyway, for his birthday his sister and I couldn't get him to tell us what he really wanted. Knowing that his passion in life right now is video games, we decided to each get him one. So we took him to Gamestop and let him choose two games. He chose "Super Mario Galaxy 2" and "Rayman Origins" for our WII game system. He's been playing them pretty much nonstop since yesterday. He took potty, food, drink, and sleep breaks though, so he's good. LOL. While he was playing the first one after we got home, his sister, her friend, and I drove to the grocery store and got one already made chocolate cake (see picture), and ingredients for his sister's friend to make another one using a cake mix and special ingredients. Both cakes were and still are delicious! :)

The below is the cake we bought. The candles were purchased separately and added. :)

This is him just prior to blowing out the candles, for the 2nd time. He blew them out before this picture, but I took that picture with the camera on the wrong setting, so I asked him to redo the blowout. As you can see, I still didn't get a great, focused picture, but at least it is a picture. LOL.
