Not out tonight

I was thinking about going out tonight. That was about 5 this afternoon. However, since I attempted to go out last week between 5:30 and 6 pm to a place downtown, having got there during rush-hour traffic, not being able to find parking, and getting thoroughly frustrated with drivers who wouldn't let me change lanes to turn on the streets my GPS said I needed to, then being stuck in constant traffic for 45 minutes just trying to get home again, I decided that tonight I should wait until after 7 pm to leave. However, the place I was thinking of going to (Alamo Drafthouse and cinema) always has a very long line to get in. The online reviews all said that if you want to get in without standing in a stupidly long line, you should get there early. Well, that was around 7 pm. Since I wasn't even sure how to get there, or where to park if I found it, I decided not to go out tonight. Instead I looked-up single's groups on Meetup.com for people in their 40's or older. I think meeting people in person at events the group enjoys will be better for meeting people. I joined a group and will try and get to one of their meet-ups soon.

The meet-up thing sounds a lot better than just going to some over-crowded "Hot Spot" filled with people that have interests very different than yours. Seriously, a place you have to stand in a long line to get into? Too much!

Yes, that's exactly what I thought. Not only do I hate bumper-to-bumper traffic, but long lines annoy me as well. In fact city drivers in general are really getting on my last good nerve. *sigh*

I can imagine. When Morg broke her arm and we had to make all those trips to St. Louis, it was like "Oh man, I have to drive like *that* again." I can have a bit of a lead-foot but I am not a naturally aggressive driver. But there, in St. Louis, it is bumper-to-bumper almost 24 hours a day and the only way to change lanes is to just do it as soon as you see the back bumper of a vehicle (rather than outright side-swiping one) thus forcing the driver behind that bumper to let you in or cause an accident. I hate driving that way but that is the way it is done in the city. He he he, I've been thinking there is a lot of traffic in town recently; you know, it takes a bit of time to make a left turn off the main drag or to get out onto the street from a parking lot--but then three vehicles going by in ten minutes makes for traffic here at home. Oh, and I *hate* going to Springfield because of all the traffic is just flippin' irritating and I know there is NO comparison to what you are dealing with there. I don't miss city traffic at all. Nope, not at all.

I've never been one who understood road rage, but I'm starting too. I miss living in the country and will again some day.
